Clothing Clothing Everywhere

I am seriously pissed off at my closet right now. So here's another post featuring swapped items! The shirt is Erica's and the dress is Jen's!
Anyway, I'm sure I'm not the only one who's ever felt like she has a million clothes but nothing to wear. I mean, that's something people say, right? I just feel like I have a ton of clothes and I don't love them. And I really want to! It makes me feel guilty, like I spent money on these, why don't I love them?

And then I get into this random shame spiral, like "Rachel why are you so obsessed with clothes, there are starving people in Africa Rachel." Even though I do believe fashion is important as a manifestation of your personality and as an art form, I still get these twinges of guilt. It's always a process, getting my wardrobe into the shape I want it to be. Maybe my style is changing.
I also haven't been thrifting as much. And that makes me feel guilty too? Like I'm letting a part of my identity die (cue the violins plz). I don't want to spend tons of money on clothes, but I also don't want to get sucked into the fast fashion vortex. Grumpy grump grump.

  1. First off, I love this outfit. The elements pair together very nicely and that dress fits you so well!

I think the whole "You care too much about clothes" happens to a lot of bloggers. But you can care about- and more importantly actively help- starving people etc. and still like clothes. And thrifting is definitely a way to do that. But if there isn't as much time...well, remember, that swapping and/or remixing, just as you are doing right here, is another highly effective way!

  2. Girl, I know EXACTLY what you mean about having a full closet and nothing to wear. I had that moment of disgust today when I was putting away clean clothes ("I don't even remember buying this?" "I've never worn this, I don't even know why I have it." "My clothes are so boring, other people have such awesome clothes! UGGHHH" *melodramatic*)

I've actually gone on a HUGE binge of getting rid of things that: 1) I'm not in love with 2) That I love but don't actually wear/that aren't practical (i.e., high heels) 3)Items that don't fit and 4) Things that just don't fit with the aesthetic I want anymore. I've also been giving a lot to my friends that I think would make better use of them. Perhaps we can participate in a kind of swap too, since we're both getting bored of our wardrobes :)

    1. And by get rid of, I mean donate to the Kidney Foundation. I'm not one of those assholes who throws perfectly good clothes in the garbage.

    2. You know what, we totally should! There should be some kind of blogger foundation for this kind of thing haha!
I feel like I'm constantly in the process of getting rid of things I don't love. So like, why did I even buy them!
