In This Day and Age

I'm really lucky to be alive during this time. Technology, medicine, and indoor plumbing, I mean, cmon. And I have so much, all of human history to look back at and draw inspiration from. So many decades of fashion and art contribute to the way I dress and what I draw. But sometimes I get really sad and think "Everything's been done." I feel like anything I do and call "creative" is just a rehash of what's already happened. Wouldn't it be neat to think they're is an entire world to explore?
That is just a thought and really has nothing to do with this outfit.
Got this dress pretty recently, and the first time I washed it, the dryer in my dorm tore two buttons off! And I mean, violently! The actual buttons were broken off, not just pulled from the dress. So that was a bummer. That dryer doesn't even dry our clothes properly. I hate it when things don't do their job.
On a more positive note, on this day Travis and I ate pizza in the park. Those are three things I love, especially together!
I don't know if you guys have noticed my lack of accessories, but it's because I just don't know how to accessorize properly. True story.

Redesign

Hey guys! As you probably noticed, I redesigned my blog. Hopefully I'll be content with it this way for awhile and not change things up all over the place.

Hey Check Out My Tights!

Aren't my tights cool? Why yes, I think so too!
I wore this to see ParaNorman with my sister at a secret hidden movie theater that was bascially deserted. It was really good, go see it!
 Here is a pinecone.
I feel like a lame-o because when I got my camera I was all "THINK OF ALL THE DIYs I CAN DOCUMENT" and now that I'm at school away from my sewing machine I'm pretty DIY-less. I'll try and think of something I can do to shake up the monotony on here of outfit post after outfit post.
In other news, I got my first hate-mail on the internet yesterday. It totally hurt my feelings, so whoever you are, I hope you feel at least a little bit bad about it!
Here is me with half-closed eyes:

A Confession

My confession involves shoes. No, I'm not addicted. (Well maybe a little). My confession is that I am bad at wearing them. Just bad. I don't know if it's my feet or if I'm doing something wrong, but I find it very hard to wear shoes, particularly flats and heels, without getting all blistered up. These pretty green ones did a number on my feet and I couldn't even wear them the whole day! I've even had sneakers wear a blister into my heel before. I tried taping my feet up to protect them, but they've still got battle scars. Oh woe is me!
 They are cute, though, right?
I am struggling so much with my photography on this blog. I don't want to take my tripod outside and pose in front of wandering students, but I also really like outdoor shots better. Or at least they work out better for me. I have such issues with lighting. I'm at school, I should take a class.
This outfit makes me think a little of menswear. But it's all in pink, so I thought that was a nice contrast!
See, I even had my own girly version of a bow tie!

Speaking of Modcloth, I don't know if you've heard, but they're having an end-of-summer 70% off sale. Just got these puppies, and I'm hoping they'll be as comfy as they are cute!

Mauve Over!

Look at my pretty princess dress! This is one of my best thrift store finds ever. I got it at our local Miracle Hill, and I didn't have to alter it AT ALL. And look at those sheer sleeves! I've had this sucker for a whole month and this is the first time I wore it... on my first day of class! My cute old lady accounting teacher complimented my hat.
My classes this semester for illustration all require me to make a book. So I'll be making a children's book, a comic book, and a third one that I don't really understand the concept for yet. I'll share any fashion-related pieces from those with you.
Any suggestions for fairytales or short poems I could illustrate?
Here are all my groovy necklaces.
Seriously guys, what are your favorite short stories and poems?
I'm going to spend the weekend with my boyfriend and my sister! Hope you guys have a good one.

Navy

This outfit was remarkably simple to put on. By that I mean I didn't have to alter the dress, which is a rare quality in my Goodwill finds, and I didn't handmake any of my accessories. I guess technically I had to replace the chain on my necklace because the first one broke, but it's really a lazy ensemble.
Here's my closet at school! Or half of it. I almost ran out of hangers.
What better way to celebrate moving in than to go to your local Goodwill and buy some nice things? I got a dress that needs to be shortened, a vest, a jewelry box, and mug with winter critters on it.

Back to School School Again!

There is something about this straw hat and some red lipstick that just makes every outfit better!
I spent today moving back into school. I'm really excited for this year, yes yes I am. I'll be taking some interesting illustration classes, and I'm hoping they'll spur me right out of my art slump.
Have you guys started back to school yet? Or are you all past those days? I'm just ready for fall and tights so I don't have to shave my legs.
What? Huh?
Oh and I don't have to work while I'm at school. And that is always a plus. School trumps work anyday!
So, this skirt used to be a dress! How about that! It was kinda long and had big ol' poofy sleeves.
