Kindly: Hand-Embroidered Quotes

There Is No Wealth But Life Embroidery Hoop Art / 8" Quote Home Decor

Did you guys notice that I got a new button over there on the right sidebar?

I know you guys saw my thesis project, right? Well this is one of my friends', called Kindly! For her thesis, my roomate Amanda made a set of hand-embroidered hoops featuring quotes from the Arts and Crafts movement. She made them to raise awareness for child labor, and a portion of the proceeds from this project will go to Unicef!

Christmas!

Merry Christmas everyone!

I hope you all got exactly what you wanted and spent lots of time with your families. I've had a good one so far! Gonna go see The Hobbit today yeauhh. I took these Christmassy photos with my sister after we opened presents in our pretty red and green dresses. They turned out bright but it was really freakin cold, and I guess I didn't notice on the display. We're still cute tho!

I guess I mean freakin cold by SC standards, because it's actually in the 30s. This dress was my Christmas gift from Travis, and the polka dot button up was one of my presents I opened today. I've been wanting some button ups for layering, and I got a few from Old Navy. Pretty psyched. And sleepy at the same time.

Working Lunch Pants

A set for a modcloth contest styling the Working Lunch Pants! This was quite a challenge, since I usually find pants hard to style, especially slacks. I love the color combo gray and gold, though.

Blogger Friends!

Omg Happy Friday, guys!

I am so glad this week is over. I hate thinking that way, because I consider myself to be pretty painfully aware that we as humans only get one life, and it's annoying to think I'm impatient for any part of it to pass. But I had a lot to deal with! The worst of which was a critique on my senior thesis from an old teacher of mine. She's a really amazing, inspirational woman, but she does not hesitate to tell it like it is. And she saw one of my sample dresses and was like "No." I think the word "disgusting" was used, and though she gave me a lot of helpful advice, it wasn't a nice meeting. Don't throw me a pity party or anything, though! I know that's just one opinion, and I'm going to keep going with my clothing collection! (I am really proud of myself for not crying tho.)

Anyway, I had a ton of fun yesterday hanging out with my fellow fashion blogger on campus, Sarah!

I was so excited to meet with Sarah! We had a lot of fun talking about fashion and blogging and art-kid stuff!  I took these photos for her, and though I'm no photographer (her boyfriend takes her photos for her a lot, and he actually does fashion photography), we got some good shots, I think! She wears a lot of thrift store stuff, has super cute style, and is like, the nicest person. Why aren't you following her yet? Go do that!

Anyway, I hope you all are on the cusp of a seriously incredible weekend!
(I don't think I've ever used cusp correctly in a sentence before, but there you go.)

LWD

I've gone most of my life without a little white dress. Or a little black dress, for that matter! I was telling my roomate, Laura, the story behind this outfit in an elevator. The other girl in there probably thought I was a weirdo, because this is a combination of lingerie from Goodwill and my Mom's slip. I bought some lingerie from my neighbor's estate sale, too, that I'm going to wear as a dress, which is even creepier, since it belonged to his recently late wife. Vintage is all about wearing old people's clothes, right?
I thought I'd dress this lacey number down with my America backpack and my fake leather boots.
I guess I wore this cardigan 2 days in a row, but I don't care. I'd wear it all the time if I my other clothes didn't get jealous (they do).
Oh hey this is it before I shortened it!
My shoes came from Modcloth! You'll be seeing them soon. But here's my roomate Laura, wearing her new Modcloth dress that I demanded she buy! What a stud.

Boys Like Fashion Too

In the spirit of diversity and fairness, how about some well dressed fellas?
My boyfriend Travis has an excellent sense of style in my opinion, and did even before I started forcing clothing on him! It's always hard to find nice clothes for dudes, at least in my price range, and Travis is on the small side, so Goodwill is pretty difficult too. Why such little focus on guy clothes in this industry? Let's change that!

Relation Graduation

 Meet my little sister!
Her name's Emma, and she's not so little in a couple ways. She's only 15 months younger than me, and, well, she's tall. She just graduated high school! Wooohooo!
Now this actually isn't what she wore to graduation, I took these on another day. But my sister is really pretty, and even though she writes off my fashion sense as "weird", she can dress cute. Sometimes.
Do you see that bunny down there?
 Lookit that bunny.
Here we are together before graduation. I'm really close with my sister and we're all real proud of her. She's gonna go off and be a pharmacist or somethin' and change the world.
I shoulda worn my hair in a top knot, huh?
