Cancellations and Decorations

My birthday was last month, and Travis had planned to take me on a special birthday princess day. But this past month has been more than hectic, so he didn't get to until today!

Some things that caused the delay:
- While I enjoy work, my schedule is erratic, so my days off didn't coincide with his.
- Travis didn't have a car until recently
-Travis' debit card expired and we had to wait for a new one
- I had to take Travis to the ER. Easily the scariest day of my life, he had taken too many sleep aids in an effort to take a nap (insomniac) and basically was a walking zombie with memory loss. I didn't handle it very calmly. He's okay now, they kept him overnight with an IV drip and gave him something to bring down his heart rate. And now I've hidden the Ambien.

Those are all good reasons for me to not blog, too, but hopefully I'll get back in the groove. Anyway, today I finally got to have my special day! We went to brunch at one of my favorite restaurants, and then to take pictures by the river! Then as my present, Trav said he'd take me to buy a gift of my choice! But right now I'm stressing over what to pick... it's too much pressure!

I have so many beautiful dresses and shoes, especially from my work. And I want pretty stuff for the apartment, but I have no idea where to shop! Please give me your home decor store reccomendations, I've tried Modcloth but it's mostly super-quirky stuff, and I don't want to fill my house with cat shaped salt and pepper shakers, I want some solid colors in the mix too. And I like some stuff from UO but I'm trying not to shop there much (plus it's pricey anyway).

(wringing water out of my skirt)

I spent the rest of the day doing some crafts; a productive day is my idea of a good one. :)

PS. I've stopped shaving my legs and armpits (yknow bc of the patriarchy). Not sure if you can see my fuzzy underarms, they're pretty wispy even at full length haha!

Dress: Vintage (from a market in Italy)
Shoes: JuJu
Bag, Hat: Thrifted
Lipstick (which I looove): Super Saturated by Urban Decay

  2. Looking super cute! I love this little sun dress and your fun glittery sandals.
That trip to the ER sounds scary. It seems like things have been hectic!
As for home decor I'd check out some thrift stores every once in a while. Sometimes you'll find cool framed pictures, baskets/trays to put stuff in, etc. You could make your own throw pillows for the couch. Ikea has some cool home decor stuff too.

  4. So glad that Travis is okay! There's nothing wrong with taking a bit of a blogging break, especially when you have bigger stuff going on in your life. I love that sundress on you, it's the perfect length. As for home decor, I say you try the thrift store as well. There's something about finding something unique in your home!

    P.S. I loooooooove your layout!

  5. Cheers to foregoing the razor, I almost love winter for that reason alone :D Anyway, your dress is so pretty! Love that you got it on your trip, it'll have such nice memories whenever you wear it now :) I always think about saving items like this for a future daughter, if there ever were to be one, y'know?

  6. That dress is PERF. It would work brilliantly in basically any season or setting. Glad to hear Travis is okay! One of my housemates got super strung out on Ambien once; I can attest that it's not pretty to watch.

Good for you for taking control of your body. I personally prefer to shave, but everyone should have the option not to.

  9. Yikes! So glad he's okay now. Super scary!

Unrelatedly, you are a doll in this and I love the new blog makeover. Also, have you checked Target for home things? Generally has cute stuff at decent prices and not likely to fall apart.
