Just Beachy

Here are some pictures Travis and I took on my family beach trip. About half of these are Instagrammies! It was a lot of fun. But I'm home now...

Wedding Bells (Not Mine)

I got to attend the wedding of one of my highschool classmates the other day! It's the second wedding of one of my peers I've been to this summer, and now I feel like I'm getting old! Not really, 20 is on the young side for marriage. Maybe people only do that in the south, I don't know. It was a pretty ceremony and it was nice catching up with friends I hadn't talked to in like, 2 years. Which is my own fault, really, for not keeping in touch.
So this is what I wore! For summer weddings, I think pastels. I mean, I'm no professional, but that sounds about right, right? I made this dress last year. It was my second dress ever! You can kindof tell by the off kilter hem and about a million other things I don't want to point out to you! Just be impressed, I made it out of a curtain, okay!?
Also check out this hydrangea. Hydrangeas have to be my favorite flower. I kept trying to keep that red lily out of my shots because it was throwing off my color scheme, haha.
I made this necklace from some beads I found on sale at Hobby Lobby. It was kindof quasi-inspired by an anthropologie necklace and one I saw on etsy.
Here's Travis's little outfit. Boy do I love his bowtie!
I'm at the beach now, so there will be some beachy pictures to come! Hope you all are having a nice week!

Collar Number One!

Here's a post to show off the new collar I made!
I love those lacy beady detachable collars I've been seeing around the internet. You know the ones! But I haven't been able to find them in any of the stores I shop at (that means Goodwill and, like, Target). So I made one!
First, I cut out two teardrop shaped pieces of a stiff white felt. I used felt because it doesn't fray, so you don't have to sew the edges like you would with fabric.
Then I got a chain that fit around my neck, and sewed it to the back of the felt pieces.
Then I sewed some beads to the front of the collar. That took awhile, but it really was simple!
This is the first outfit I wore with it.
I love the way they dress up any plain neckline!
I took these pictures out in my Mom's garden, which she is very proud of, and for good reason!

Checks Please!

I think I've said before that my boyfriend lives in an old mill that's been turned into apartments. This means awkwardly placed windows and pipes running through rooms, and it's kindof a gross place. But it is interesting. These were taken in the laundry room downstairs.
I like how the checkered room matches my gingham collar! And how they painted the place to match my dress. Nice of them, right?
I thrifted this dress a few weeks ago and shortened it. I'm not usually crazy about empire waists, but man do I love this one! It only cost $6, and the shoes were around $4.
I dress pretty consistently like either a little girl or an old lady.
Should I get contacts? Do I look better glasses-less?

dress and shoes are thrifted. socks from walmart. earrings from f21.

You Should Get Used To This

So here's a confession. Or rather, a complaint.
I don't have a camera! What is a fashion blogger without a camera? Unpopular. Here are some doodles of me in my clothes this week while I wait to get ahold of my boyfriend's iPhone. I was messing around with line color.

Wooo woooo!

That was the sound of a train. You know what that means! Time for some obligatory railroad photos.
We got there just as a train was passing. It was going pretty slow and was very loud. I didn't see that guy in the caboose when I was out there, but now I do! Look at him! He thinks I'm crazy!
I found this cute kitty shirt at Goodwill. I love anything associated with cute kitties! It's super huge, though, which is kindof a bummer. His face looks all warped in this shot, though. I normally stray away from buying shirts with faces on them, because they look stupid over boobies!
I saw a similar necklace on Modcloth, and decided I could make my own! I'm real proud of it, but it keeps breaking. Due to my own poor craftsmanship. I also made these socks!
Guys seriously don't sit on railroad tracks. They are covered in grease. After this I had to go straight home and soap up my shorts so they wouldn't stain. Of course I had to use this shot or else my dirty shorts would have all been in vain!
Oh hey I also made this bow, too! DIYs all over the place today!
Ch ch ch cheesey. Gotta start pinning my bangs back. They are not a flattering summer hairstyle, at least not for my sweaty head!

Relation Graduation

 Meet my little sister!
Her name's Emma, and she's not so little in a couple ways. She's only 15 months younger than me, and, well, she's tall. She just graduated high school! Wooohooo!
Now this actually isn't what she wore to graduation, I took these on another day. But my sister is really pretty, and even though she writes off my fashion sense as "weird", she can dress cute. Sometimes.
Do you see that bunny down there?
 Lookit that bunny.
Here we are together before graduation. I'm really close with my sister and we're all real proud of her. She's gonna go off and be a pharmacist or somethin' and change the world.
I shoulda worn my hair in a top knot, huh?
