Thug in a Pinafore

My sister told me this beanie made me look like a thug.

Today I have kindof a combo my-outfit/nature-photography post for you, from Sunday when I spent the day with my two favorite people at the State Capitol Park. Luckily, its not operated by the federal government, so we could still hang out there and eat our pizza. There was also like a biker gang appreciation thing going on and all these motorcyclists were on the steps of the building singing the national anthem.

I've got a bunch of fun faces in this photoset! My sister took all the pictures of me (and continues to prove her skill at things that she doesn't care about doing).

My new hair makes everything looks so much brighter! It makes me want to wear neutrals and monochrome.

And here's my best thug face. Where'd my eyebrows even go?

Blogger Friends!

Omg Happy Friday, guys!

I am so glad this week is over. I hate thinking that way, because I consider myself to be pretty painfully aware that we as humans only get one life, and it's annoying to think I'm impatient for any part of it to pass. But I had a lot to deal with! The worst of which was a critique on my senior thesis from an old teacher of mine. She's a really amazing, inspirational woman, but she does not hesitate to tell it like it is. And she saw one of my sample dresses and was like "No." I think the word "disgusting" was used, and though she gave me a lot of helpful advice, it wasn't a nice meeting. Don't throw me a pity party or anything, though! I know that's just one opinion, and I'm going to keep going with my clothing collection! (I am really proud of myself for not crying tho.)

Anyway, I had a ton of fun yesterday hanging out with my fellow fashion blogger on campus, Sarah!

I was so excited to meet with Sarah! We had a lot of fun talking about fashion and blogging and art-kid stuff!  I took these photos for her, and though I'm no photographer (her boyfriend takes her photos for her a lot, and he actually does fashion photography), we got some good shots, I think! She wears a lot of thrift store stuff, has super cute style, and is like, the nicest person. Why aren't you following her yet? Go do that!

Anyway, I hope you all are on the cusp of a seriously incredible weekend!
(I don't think I've ever used cusp correctly in a sentence before, but there you go.)

Bring On The Tights

Today I had to completely scrap a commission I did for a friend of Mom's at work. Then I couldn't figure out how to find the book I needed in the library. Then while walking back to my room I dropped my binder. This was the worst because somehow the rings popped open and all my papers were on the pavement! And I'm all "UGH" while people are walking past me like "Excuse me."

But some good stuff happened too. I got some work done. And the weather was nice. While walking back from taking these photos, a car pulled up beside me, full of these big dudes. I was scared, duh, but there were just like "...You need any help?"

I swear I'm tryna think up something creative for blog posts, but I've been so busy. All dat homework and senior thesis junk! I'm just gonna throw conditioner on my hair, maybe paint some, and call it a day.

My New Hair!

That's right, I bleached it!

It was a lot of work, actually, and it didn't turn out at all how I planned. I think with DIY hair coloring, ya gotta roll with the punches, yknow? I had planned on a magenta fade to light pink, so this is close, just more in the orange color scheme, haha. First I bought some blonde dye for brunettes, hoping to lighten my hair without bleach. It definitely worked, but only on my natural hair. So I had blonde roots first! Then I dyed the whole thing what I thought was magenta, but it still turned out pretty red. Then I bleached the tips. They came out quite orange, but I wanted the ombre to start higher. With some worries about over-bleaching my hair, I put more bleach on, starting a few inches higher. It really turned out great, though, I think! And the bleach didn't even wreck my hair.

I think the line where the orange starts is a little harsh, but let's be real: I had no idea what I was doing. I might pink it up in a month or so, but I like it like this for now!

I def love how bright it is. I feel super cool now!

I wore my new dress from Target that reminds me of one that I really liked on Modcloth... I think it was Mata Traders? It would have been great to buy the nice expensive one since Mata Traders has such a great ethical reputation, but this one was on clearance. I'm psyched about my new thrifted vest, too, and I haven't worn these sneakers in a long while! I actually wore them to my junior prom.

I bet my new hair will look even better once I actually straighten and trim my messy bangs!

This Week I...

This week I...

Hung out with my cats. We had to give the white one a flea bath!

Drank tea from a new thrifted mug!

Went shopping! My mom got me some little gifties!

Looked through some vintage photos at a junk shop.
What about you?

By the way, thanks so much to everyone who took my survey. Your feedback was very helpful!

Cage

Sup dudes?
I don't think I have many words for you today, just a bunch of pictures.

I made this skirt using elastic and a skirt from Forever 21, based on this one from Choies. It's price keeps fluctuating, but I figured I might as well make my own! I think it looks a little BDSM, but I'm kinda into it! I guess it fits kinda funky, I'm not sure what to do about that.

To de-sexify it, I paired it with the least sexy thing I could think of: A men's NASA tee.

Dress: Forever 21 + DIY
Shoes: Target + DIY
Headband: Etsy
Tshirt: Target
Necklace: F21
Socks: I don't even know man.

I get to go home and hug my cat this weekend. I hope you all have a good one!
