Grand Canyon Part 1

I'm back from our vacation to the Grand Canyon! I took lots of pictures, so I'm splitting them into a couple posts for you guys. It was amazing, I'm so glad we went!
I went on my first flight. I was super nervous, and guess what? I hate flying. It's cramped and loud and scary and the only redeeming part is the amazing view. Yeah yeah I know planes are like a zillion times safer than cars, but I just feel safer on the ground. Huge metal things defying gravity are like whaaaat.
We had a layover in Dallas.
Landing in Phoenix was so pretty! Like glitter city.
We spent the night at a super nice hotel that my Dad's cousin got us for free! Then we drove around Arizona, where everything is brown and cactus-themed.

Our first day in Arizona was actually super lame. We went to this meteor crater only to find out it closed an hour before we got there (yes you can close a hole in the ground) and then drove to Winslow with the sole purpose of standing on the corner there. If you know the Jackson Browne song, "Take it Easy", you'll know Winslow's only claim to fame. And we get there and the corner park has been torn down! The street sign we planned to take pictures with was laying in the dirt.
We at least got this gem of a photo on the way back to our cheapo hotel in Williams!
The next morning, we went to the Grand Canyon. And it was for real amazing. And huge.
Why yes I did hike around in a dress all day! I saw a girl in a demin mini skirt though, so guess I win second place for apparent impracticality. We hiked around the rim the first day we were there.
I had a stomach ache basically for the entire trip, which we blamed on the altitude. Most of the time it wasn't too bad, though. We ate at a really yummy restaurant in the park, where I had the best veggie burger of my life.
The animals there were all pretty accustomed to tourists, and we saw lots of elk. Here's Travis hanging out with a friendly squirrel!
My Mom spent a lot of time behind the camera. She never likes pictures of herself, but I think she looks beautiful!
Travis was pretty obsessed with these binoculars.
Selfies in front of the canyon!
I'll finish up the rest of the photos in the next post!

Hey guys!
While I'm coming home from Grand Canyon, how about you look at stuff I took pictures of last month!
My fat kitty, Kit
Playing pokemon in my dress that matches my ds
I am seriously good at finding four leaf clovers
What are you looking at? It's a microscope view of my cheek cells, eww!
A work in progress shot of a painting I've since finished

Hope you guys are having a good week!

Pastel Princess

 I redid my hair!
I used Manic Panic's Electric Lava, and I really like how it turned out! I want a more orange color than this, but I love how bright it is, and I'll get it right next time. When it fades out I'll post a review and some more details on how it worked for me.
Now, about the dress. I made it! I recently did a new blog header for KiKi of Cats in My Closet, and she has the cutest clothes. This dress is inspired by her yellow one with the ruffles that I included in the header! Check her out for real. I made it out of a bed sheet I got from Goodwill, and I think it turned out great! I love how my new hair looks with pastels!
This dress makes me feel like a freaking princess.

The Grand Tour

Now that I'm home and unpacked, I thought I'd show you guys around my room! It's my favorite place in the world and for the past week I've just grinned every time I've walked in. It's nice to be back!
As far as decorating goes, I'm not really the minimalist type.
I've got so much art, I've started sticking it up all over my walls. I'm also starting to collect prints from my favorite artists!
'
Oh and I have a huge mural of fish in my room.
I painted this a couple summers ago when I thought my room needed a change from it's orange and pink color scheme (of which the chair is a remnant)! The piles of clothes are for my etsy shop and things that need to be altered.
A nice panorama of my closet.
My favorite kitty is pretty glad I'm home, too!

Ugly Pretty

Hey hey guys! It's kindof chilly round here, and I've been enjoying my summer vacation so far by sleeping a lot and watching a lot of TV. It'll get old real quick.

Today's drawing took way longer than I thought it would... I'm just not used to using Illustrator! Pandora even timed out while I was working and I didn't even notice.
I've been watching a lot of America's Next Top Model on hulu. Tyra taught me this face is considered "ugly pretty".
And check out this pretty new ring! I got it on etsy for Easter.
This dress is one of the best ones I've made! There are a lot of construction flaws if you look closely, but ain't nobody care! It slipped on easier than it usually does, so I'm inclined to think my boobies got smaller? My bras still fit normally, though, so maybe I lost back fat? I don't even know.
 dress: made by me
cardigan: boyfriend's, from ae
hat, shoes: thrifted
tights: romwe
necklaces: modcloth and f21
ring: etsy

Remember to enter the Flock Together giveaway! You can win a big old modcloth gift card, so get on that!
I've noticed I've got a few new followers as a result. I hope you guys stick around! It is really important to me though that everyone who reads this blog wants to, so I won't be pissed if you leave.
