Friday, I'm in Love

These pictures were taken at the riverwalk in downtown Columbia. Travis and I have been searching for a way to get to the shores forever and this was there the whole time, as public as can be!
So it's not Friday. But if you know that song (by the Cure) then you can fully appreciate my T-shirt! I've had it for years... the calender on the shirt matches the lyrics of the song! When I saw it on threadless I stared at it for like 10 minutes, so once I understood it I had to buy it. To make up for how slow I was on the uptake or something.
I've got a lovely bouquet of flowers sitting on my desk right now! Travis had taped them to the ceiling so that when I laid down on the bed I'd see them! Well, in theory. In real life he had to give me a few minutes. It's like that experiment, yknow, where they have people watch a game and count the number of baskets or something, and a man in a gorilla suit just waltzes across the stage and no one watching even notices.
The point is, he was being a sweetie.
I've been thinking. We really take toilets for granted.

Return of the Cat Pants

The cat pants make a reappearance!
What did I say about this chartreuse sweater? It goes with everything! Anyway, you can get some of your very own cat shorts in my shop! So get on that.
This'll be the first time I show off these shoes here. They're my new favorites! I just wish they went with black tights better!
On a completely unrelated note, I've been watching Rugrats lately. You know, the 90s are All That on late night Nick? Well nothing makes me want a baby more, I kid you not. I don't even like babies, never have. But something about those adorable cartoon children just gets me! Fun fact about me: I've never held a baby or changed a diaper. No one in my family has ever been significantly younger than me except my cousin's now 2 year old, and I hardly spend much time over there. Am I the only lady out there who doesn't know anything about babies? God help my future children.

Flock Together

I posted over at flock together today, and I completely forgot to tell you about it!
Hop on over to see more of Hannah's lovely dress!

DIY Cloud Sweater

I've been saving this DIY for a rainy day... Appropriately, since it's a sweater covered in clouds!
You'll need a cardigan or sweater, felt, scissors, embroidery thread, embroidery needles (they've got a bigger eye), and some kind of stencil (optional).
 1. So first, if you're using a stencil, cut that thing out! You can make any shape you want. I think hearts or stars would be cute, too!
 2. Second, pin your stencil to your felt.
 3. Cut out as many shapes as you want!
 4. Now, arrange them on your sweater and pin them in place.
 5. Thread your needle and tie the thread in a knot at the eye, instead of doubling it over like you would with sewing thread.
 6. Start sewing those clouds on!
POW. Now you've turned a blah cardigan into a ray of sunshine! Wear that sucker with pride! (Or with tights and t-straps!)

A Pinafore Saved...

I've been having good luck with my point and shoot lately. Until now.
It's cool though. What I really want to say is: I made this dress! This pinafore, actually. Pretty heavily inspired by Annika's handmade pinafore, I didn't really follow the tutorial. A circle skirt wouldn't have worked with stripey fabric, so I pleated it instead. I also realized while wearing it around that I forgot to finish the hem! Pff.
You know how I said I lost this ring I got for Christmas the day after Christmas? Well I put it in my pocket at work, and when I got home I couldn't find it. I was so upset, until Emma found it the next day in the floor. Then while looking for my new lipstick the day after that, I remembered that I had put it in my pocket at work. And I couldn't find it.
I feel like such a dweeb when I have to learn the same lesson twice. Luckily I found the lipstick. (It fell out of the pocket I was sure I'd checked twice later that night.)
Okay, I want to complain about something. I love complaining.
I go look at the blog of every person that leaves a comment on one of my posts. Mostly because I like to see the person behind the comment, but also because I would want someone to check out my blog if I left them a comment. So it doesn't bother me so much when people are all like "check out my blog if you get the chance" at the end of their comment.
But what does annoy me is when someone says "I like your blog! Want to follow each other?" Dude, if you like my blog, follow it. If I like yours, I'll do the same. Basically what you're saying is "I don't like your blog enough to follow it of my own volition, I need an incentive," and that's not nice. I don't want you to follow me just because I follow you! I want you to follow me if you want to follow me. Would you want me to follow you just because you followed me, and me not really be into your posts and just skip them? Why bother with that?
I'm sure the people who leave these comments don't mean anything bad by it, but that's the way it comes off to me.
Anyway, school starts for me the 7th, and I've got a shop opening up this week! Exciting stuff!

Mud

 WOAH hello there!
Today I am wearing another one of my pretty pretty presents! I've been in love with this dress ever since I first saw it on modcloth, and it happened to go on sale just before Christmastime! So YAY.
To take these pictures, I trekked out to the creek in my backyard. Oh yeah, did I tell you I have a creek in my backyard? It supplied me and my friends with plenty of entertainment when we were little. We used to go on adventures in the woods. Once I climbed up a tree (that was growing at a 45 degree angle) and dropped to the other side to retrieve one of my shoes. Then my Dad had to come and retrieve me cause I got stuck.
Anyway, it rained recently and so the water was high and the ground was swampy. I first came out here in my heels. Missssstake.
I got some mud on my white socks, too, which was kind of annoying, but if you can't wear your clothes tromping around in your own backyard, what can you wear them for?
On a more personal-I-like-talking-about-myself note, I was thinking about operating under pressure. I used to consider myself someone who works well under high stress. But you know what? I really don't. When I'm folding something at work and a customer asks for help, I kindof panic and can't figure out what to do. I finish all my school work way ahead of time, and when it comes to exam time I freak out like "OMG there's so much to do and so little tiiiiiiiimmmee!"
That's not to say I don't work fast. I get things done way quicker than my classmates and end up with plenty of freetime. But that's done on my own terms, time-wise.
Do you guys handle stress well?

coat: Wet Seal

Also, It's the New Year! I'm not usually one to put all my personal stuff up on the internet. My introspection doesn't normally go beyond that stuff I just wrote about handling stress (or me complaining about something haha), so my resolutions will probably have a page to themselves in my sketchbook. Maybe being more open about myself here on the blog should be one of them!
Hope you guys had a happy new years eve! Mine was low key-I cuddled a lot and ate gummies.
