OH MY HOLY COW.
I have an etsy shop!
The Floral Prince is a quirky wonderland, full of vintage clothes, art prints, greeting cards, and hand painted cat pants!
velvet cat shorts
Men in Uniform Valentines cards (coming this week)

It's been a long time coming, but I finally got everything organized. And I gotta give props to you sellers out there, there's a lot to figure out! In honor of the shop launch, I'm hosting a giveaway! One lucky winner can pick out one item from the shop and I'll ship it to them totally free! That means from the items in stock after the giveaway is over, which will be in 2 weeks: the 20st of January. Excluding the cat shorts. Sorry guys, it takes me like 5 hours to do each pair. I'll use a random number generator to pick the winner! Here're the rulez:

1. Follow me via GFC or Bloglovin.
2. Leave a comment saying what item you'd pick from the shop!

For an extra entry, you can follow The Floral Prince on facebook! Leave an extra comment saying you've done so! Make sure you leave me your contact info!

I'm so excited guys, I hope you like my shop!

A Pinafore Saved...

I've been having good luck with my point and shoot lately. Until now.
It's cool though. What I really want to say is: I made this dress! This pinafore, actually. Pretty heavily inspired by Annika's handmade pinafore, I didn't really follow the tutorial. A circle skirt wouldn't have worked with stripey fabric, so I pleated it instead. I also realized while wearing it around that I forgot to finish the hem! Pff.
You know how I said I lost this ring I got for Christmas the day after Christmas? Well I put it in my pocket at work, and when I got home I couldn't find it. I was so upset, until Emma found it the next day in the floor. Then while looking for my new lipstick the day after that, I remembered that I had put it in my pocket at work. And I couldn't find it.
I feel like such a dweeb when I have to learn the same lesson twice. Luckily I found the lipstick. (It fell out of the pocket I was sure I'd checked twice later that night.)
Okay, I want to complain about something. I love complaining.
I go look at the blog of every person that leaves a comment on one of my posts. Mostly because I like to see the person behind the comment, but also because I would want someone to check out my blog if I left them a comment. So it doesn't bother me so much when people are all like "check out my blog if you get the chance" at the end of their comment.
But what does annoy me is when someone says "I like your blog! Want to follow each other?" Dude, if you like my blog, follow it. If I like yours, I'll do the same. Basically what you're saying is "I don't like your blog enough to follow it of my own volition, I need an incentive," and that's not nice. I don't want you to follow me just because I follow you! I want you to follow me if you want to follow me. Would you want me to follow you just because you followed me, and me not really be into your posts and just skip them? Why bother with that?
I'm sure the people who leave these comments don't mean anything bad by it, but that's the way it comes off to me.
Anyway, school starts for me the 7th, and I've got a shop opening up this week! Exciting stuff!

Mud

 WOAH hello there!
Today I am wearing another one of my pretty pretty presents! I've been in love with this dress ever since I first saw it on modcloth, and it happened to go on sale just before Christmastime! So YAY.
To take these pictures, I trekked out to the creek in my backyard. Oh yeah, did I tell you I have a creek in my backyard? It supplied me and my friends with plenty of entertainment when we were little. We used to go on adventures in the woods. Once I climbed up a tree (that was growing at a 45 degree angle) and dropped to the other side to retrieve one of my shoes. Then my Dad had to come and retrieve me cause I got stuck.
Anyway, it rained recently and so the water was high and the ground was swampy. I first came out here in my heels. Missssstake.
I got some mud on my white socks, too, which was kind of annoying, but if you can't wear your clothes tromping around in your own backyard, what can you wear them for?
On a more personal-I-like-talking-about-myself note, I was thinking about operating under pressure. I used to consider myself someone who works well under high stress. But you know what? I really don't. When I'm folding something at work and a customer asks for help, I kindof panic and can't figure out what to do. I finish all my school work way ahead of time, and when it comes to exam time I freak out like "OMG there's so much to do and so little tiiiiiiiimmmee!"
That's not to say I don't work fast. I get things done way quicker than my classmates and end up with plenty of freetime. But that's done on my own terms, time-wise.
Do you guys handle stress well?

belt, boots, zebra pin: Goodwill
coat: Wet Seal

Also, It's the New Year! I'm not usually one to put all my personal stuff up on the internet. My introspection doesn't normally go beyond that stuff I just wrote about handling stress (or me complaining about something haha), so my resolutions will probably have a page to themselves in my sketchbook. Maybe being more open about myself here on the blog should be one of them!
Hope you guys had a happy new years eve! Mine was low key-I cuddled a lot and ate gummies.

You're A Star DIY

I know I have been super slack on the DIYs lately... mostly because I've been busy preparing for my shop launch (coming in January!) BUT ANYWAY.
(I like to pretend I'm not actually wearing too much blush and it's just a bad picture)

Ever since I saw these star pins on Modcloth, I've been wanting a pair of my own! And let me tell you. They are easy to make. I whipped up a pair to wear to my family's Christmas get together (and then got scheduled to work. I plan on wearing them into work instead).

Here's what you'll need:
 1. First, draw some stars (or whatever shape you want) on your paper, and cut them out.
2. Cover one side of the shape in glue. You can use a brush, or just smoosh it on there like I did.
 3. Now cover those suckers in glitter!
 4. Now you have to wait for them to dry, so go watch TV or something. Once they are dry you can shake off the excess glitter, and grab yourself a bobby pin.
 5. Last, hot glue the pin onto the back of the shape!
Now you're done! For extra security, you can tape the pin to the star over top of the hot glue... mine broke a few times.
KAPOW.

The Aftermath

Hey guys hey guys I've got collar clips!
If you'd like to see how I made them, hop on over to my guest post on Elana's blog, Room 334!

In other news, I thought I'd share the spoils of my Christmas day with you!
Travis got me a moon clock that glows in the dark and some lipstick. My sister (who hates shopping at Goodwill) got me two of the CUTEST Goodwill finds I've ever seen - a peter pan collared dress and a polka dot sweater. I also got some really fabulous shoes, some paint, and a wood carving set from my dad!
The rings are from etsy. I sent my Mom two links and she bought me both because she is a sweetheart. I love them so much.

The day after Christmas I went to work and LOST my pretty topaz ring! I cried for like half an hour, and in the morning my sister was like, "Wut it's right here." On the floor next to the ironing board.

So here's an outfit featuring my cute sheep sweater and my pretty Tstraps.
I'm pretty sad that Christmas is over. I got Travis a set of Star Trek glasses and some fancy coffee. For Em (that's my sister... her name is Emma) I got a set of Scrabble magnets that probably cost more, but paled in comparison to her gifts to me. I got Mom a scarf and some coffee, and Dad some nice pumpernickel bread. His Mom was German and they spent a lot of time over there, and white bread just isn't good enough for him!
We also saw the Hobbit. Which was really good.

Hope your Christmases were just as merry as mine!

Art from December

I thought I'd start doing an art of the month thing to break up all the outfit posts! Don't worry, there are some DIYs on the way, too.
I did a lot of digital stuff this month, and I made a lot of patterns that you are welcome to use!

PEACE OUT.
(lets bring that back.)

A Little Pep

How about this cute little peplum?
I borrowed it from Elana of Room 334. It's got cute little bunnies on it, if you look up close! I've always wanted to try a peplum out, but I've never gotten around to buying one.
Some people have noticed that I'm wearing some short sleeved things of late, even though it's the middle of December. That's because this is South freaking Carolina and we don't get real winters. Although I was kind of chilly while shooting this outfit...
It's nice to still be able to show off your outfit instead of hiding in a coat all winter long, but I've always wanted a white Christmas. Snow is really magical (at least to this southern girl), and we barely get one snowfall a year. Normally it's a couple of ice storms that no one knows how to drive in, and then some really cold, grey rain.
I didn't plan this double collar thing, but I am really loving it. Even my sister told me I looked cute.

dress: trollied dolly via modcloth (stylish surprise)
scissors bracelet: modcloth
peplum: borrowed from Elana
tights: charlotte russe (how do you even pronounce "russe?")
tie: from another dress, forever 21
bow pin, boots: Goodwill

Merry Christmas, everyone!
