The Other Side of the Tracks

Our campus is divided by a railroad. All the buildings but two apartment complexes are on one side. I literally live on the other side of the tracks! Don't you just love when your life becomes a pun? Or a play on words? Or a idiom? I think it's an idiom.
So I got this pretty pink shirt at the Miracle Hill back home. It's pale pink, you can hardly tell in these photos. But it looks way better on a person than on a hanger. And, introducing my favorite blazer ever! I've actually photographed it before, back in like, March.
I was beginning to think these train cars were abandoned for good out here. But they disappeared overnight, so someone somewhere must love them!

Art

Here are some recent art things I've done that are at least a little related to fashion.
First off, a Mad Men inspired 50s lady.

A boy who likes roses.

A sketch of Persephone for my comics class.

A concept for the heroine of The Wild Swans for my childrens' book class.

Some cutesy outfits!
More stuff on my tumblr if you're interested!

Forest

I love this dress. It's perfect for the colder seasons, with long sleeves and that forest green color! It's so simple and pretty! I also love my new shoes from Blowfish! They are even comfortable!
What did I say about a straw hat and red lipstick? Instant outfit. Plus my gold bow necklace doesn't hurt either.
In other news, I chose my fairytale and comic stories. I'm going to do The Wild Swans by Andersen, and the Greek myth of Hades and Persephone. I'll share any fashiony paintings I end up doing for them. Trust me, I always find an excuse to draw pretty dresses!

Seasonally Inappropriate

Oversized sweater + short skirt? Yes please!
I love the overall girliness of this outfit. Pastels and embroidery and lace and flowers... I don't think it could get much better!
It does look a bit more spring-y than fall-y though, huh?
My roomate, Laura, got me this cool necklace. It pops open to reveal a little clock! It seems that everytime I need to check the time my hands are full, though.
Got these Keds at Goodwill. They're slightly too small, but when it comes to thrift store shoes, I normally take what I can get. I've been wanting some Keds for awhile!

Garden Party

I stepped outside to take these pictures and was just FLABBERGASTED at the weather. It was cool out for the first time in what feels like ages. I may be dressed like a garden, but it sure felt like fall!

Falling Slowly

I am so ready for fall. Too bad the weather hasn't gotten the memo! Well, it has cooled down considerably, it's in the mid 80s now, but the day I took these photos I was somewhat ambitiously dressed. Courdoroy, high collars, dark colors and a trek out to the trains? I was pooped.
These trains are cool, though, right? They're about a 5 minute walk from my dorm, and abandoned, I think! They're technically off campus and no one was around to see me sweating in front of my tripod.
I think it's pretty visible how hot it was. Just check out that sun! And my bangs that don't behave in the heat. I follow a lot of blogs and I know a lot of people love the summertime. All the cute ladies on the southern hemisphere are talking about how they can't wait! But I'm of a different breed. Or maybe it's just from living in the sweltering south. But I can't wait for the cold weather! Falling leaves, pumpkin patches, hats and scarves and hot cocoa!
Just wait 3 months, I'll be dreaming of the summer too, you'll see!
Not many people comment on this shirt, but I think that's because they don't notice the detail. They're tiny roosters for heaven's sake!

Week in Review

Due to the crummy quality of these photos, I didn't think it was necessary to delegate an entire post to each of this week's outfits. So here are the three I photographed. Honestly these are from the first week of September so I am way behind anyway.
