Week in Review

Due to the crummy quality of these photos, I didn't think it was necessary to delegate an entire post to each of this week's outfits. So here are the three I photographed. Honestly these are from the first week of September so I am way behind anyway.

DIY Hat Wreath

Hey! Hi! Hey!
Here's the DIY for the hat wreath from my last post. It's simple and lovely and you should make a million!
 1. You need a hat, some fake flowers, and some wire.
 2. Wrap your wire around the hat a few times and hold it in place with your hand. It needs to be the right size so it will fit back on the hat when you're done.
3. Wrap some wire to hold the circle in place.
 4. It should look like this. Wrap wire around different parts of the circle as you did in step 3.
5. Cut the flowers off of the stems with some wire cutters, or nice strong scissors.
 6. Arrange your flowers around the wire ring in any way you like!
 7. Wrap wire around the flowers to attach them to the ring. Here's a close up!
 8. Do this all the way around, so that you have a pretty little wreath!
 9. Put it on your hat and wear it everywhere you go!
Fun fact: Until the 9th grade I thought "voila" was pronounce "vye oh la". It's "vwah lah" just in case anyone else is still in the dark.

I Made a Dress!

Okay so there are so many things I love about this outfit.
First of all, I designed and made this dress! If you recall my DIY wave skirt tutorial, this is what I did with it! The cloudy print is flannel. When I bought it, I saw it was marked "Do Not Use for Children's Pajamas" and I was like "OK fabric whatever you say!"
Second, I found this great bow pendant at Hobby Lobby. I love little gold bow necklaces because they're like a girlier bowtie! Yes pleeaasse.
Third! Check out my great wonderful awesome perfect new shoes from Modcloth! They are even comfy and they make me feel super tall and make my legs look way longer than they are, which you can really see when I wear shorts with them.
And the final thing I love about this outfit is the cool new flower wreath I made for my hat! Stay tuned, because I'll be posting a DIY for it soon so you guys can fill the whole world with floral hat wreaths! I expect you to carry out my request.

LWD

I've gone most of my life without a little white dress. Or a little black dress, for that matter! I was telling my roomate, Laura, the story behind this outfit in an elevator. The other girl in there probably thought I was a weirdo, because this is a combination of lingerie from Goodwill and my Mom's slip. I bought some lingerie from my neighbor's estate sale, too, that I'm going to wear as a dress, which is even creepier, since it belonged to his recently late wife. Vintage is all about wearing old people's clothes, right?
I thought I'd dress this lacey number down with my America backpack and my fake leather boots.
I guess I wore this cardigan 2 days in a row, but I don't care. I'd wear it all the time if I my other clothes didn't get jealous (they do).
Oh hey this is it before I shortened it!
My shoes came from Modcloth! You'll be seeing them soon. But here's my roomate Laura, wearing her new Modcloth dress that I demanded she buy! What a stud.

Southern Charm

I had a really nice weekend. I got to go home and see my family, go to Goodwill, and to the Apple Festival. I ate this caramel apple and it was sticky and delicious and wonderful. Sometimes it's nice to look dorky with curly, rained-on bangs and a sticky caramel face and just not care how put together you are, walking around downtown while banjo music plays.
Speaking of banjo-music, I'd like to talk a little bit about South Carolina. I was born in the DC area, and moved here when I was 6. I spent the first half of my life rejecting all things southern. I'd say I was a northerner, even though I was technically from Virginia. But lately I've really started embracing the state I live in. There are a lot of nice things about the south. A lot of weird things, but a lot of nice things. Like sweet tea, hospitality, and folk music. It's normal to want to move as far away as you can from your hometown when you're a teenager, but now I'm focusing on the positive!
So, that connects to my outfit because kitten heels and a sweet knee-length dress seems southern to me? Maybe it's just me.
That was a lot of pictures.

Hurried

This was a hurriedly photographed outfit, but I really liked it, so here it is in all of it's poorly-lit glory!
I got this super sweet buttoned cardigan at Forever 21 last weekend. I'm a sucker for cute buttons!
I really don't have much else to say about this one. Oh, I have since these photos cut my bangs a little too short. So I've been looking a bit puffy haha.
I also won Annika's little giveaway over at her blog! I'm so flattered because she's one of my biggest inspirations here in the blogosphere. So I'm really excited!
