Future's So Bright I Gotta Wear Shades

Hi guys! And hi from my bellybutton, too. In the past I was the first to say that showing off your mid drift is the opposite of classy. But I've come around! Showing my bellybutton makes me an eensy bit nervous, but I plan on wearing this with skirts that come up higher than these shorts in the future. And really, how could I resist this shirt? When I put it on I swear I heard a chorus of heavenly angels. Really.
I wore these sequined Converses to my junior prom and thought I was the coolest thing since sliced bread. Speaking of prom, here's a story from my senior year:
They had fishies in vases on all the tables. I remembered my math teacher telling us a story about how when she helped set up for past proms, they made her flush all the goldfish that were in a decoration fountain. I was determined not to let these fish meet the same fate. When it was time to leave, I grabbed a vase and stuffed it under my date's coat and walked right out. I passed my principal and he just smiled and handed me a free waterbottle! I named the fish Tom Cruise because I thought I was a spy like Mission Impossible.
Anyway, once I got the fish home I realized there were initials on the bottom of the vase. The prom committee had already claimed these fish! I felt so guilty I turned myself into the teacher in charge of it all. And lucky me, she said she had plenty extra and gave me another one.
Both those fish are now dead.
I love this bag. It's got like, heiroglyphics on it! I got a new camera for my birthday (and my Mom and sister took me on a wonderful, big thrifting trip!) and these are the first pictures I did myself with the self timer! WOO! I am so excited to be able to take my own photos, now I can share DIYs with you guys!

Woops

I was organizing my mess of labels because I thought they worked like tags, and now I get that they don't. And somehow a couple of my really old posts got reposted? So I'm sorry about that!

Boys Like Fashion Too

In the spirit of diversity and fairness, how about some well dressed fellas?
My boyfriend Travis has an excellent sense of style in my opinion, and did even before I started forcing clothing on him! It's always hard to find nice clothes for dudes, at least in my price range, and Travis is on the small side, so Goodwill is pretty difficult too. Why such little focus on guy clothes in this industry? Let's change that!

Like that face?

Here are a couple of outfits from our uncharacteristically balmy February!
I'm trying to experiment with different ways of cute-clothes-documentation, and I was just a little self conscious being photographed by my patient boyfriend while people were outside to see me.
We'll see we'll see.

Most of my clothes here are thrifted, but the tights, purse, and beret are from Target, the red shirt with the foral thing that I think is a cabbage of some sort is from Old Navy, the boots are Wanted, and my unicorn necklace is from Forever 21.

Watercolors

I got this fabulous new dress on sale at shopruche! It was even cheaper when I ordered it. It's kindof a hassle to get on, because it comes with this sheer slip that's like, buttoned into the sleeves of it, but it's very worth it, I think!
My Mom took these pictures for me with her new Sony point-and-shoot camera. I tried to convince her to splurge on a DSLR for herself but she's pretty stubbornly frugal! They came out in a really weird wide-screen format, as you can see with the real long skinny photos that I didn't crop.
My hair looks silly partially because I'm a lazy bum with minimal know-how, and partially because I got caught in the rain! It was so hot out, and then this shower came out of nowhere! I got drenched and then we went straight into the air-conditioned mall and suddenly I was freezing! Sorry weather, you can't make me happy no matter how you try!
I also had a meeting at work where we had to try on jeans, and I looked real stylish tuckin' this thing into jeans. Pfft.
dress-Ruche, $20
socks- Walmart, like $5 for a pack of three
shoes- Goodwill, $4.25
necklace- family heirloom
headband and jewelry-gift and flea market
I'm trying to brag about my thrifty prices, and I can't even remember half of 'em.

Cut It Out

So I got a little carried away with drawing on these pictures. But it was so much fun, I'm going to try and do stuff like this more often!
I made this dress recently, or shirt and skirt, because it's really two pieces. It was a pretty blatant copy of that dress from topshop with the swans on it. You know the one. Anyway, I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, even though it needs some tweaking. The cutout part is looking pretty rough.
My neighbors are being lazy and haven't mowed their lawn in ages. Their yard is full of dandelions! I figured if they can't bother to mow, they should have no problem with my tromping through their yard and taking pictures!
If I could only make shoes, this would be a pretty thoroughly diy'd outfit!

Hope you guys (the American ones) had a happy holiday! It was so great seeing everyone's super festive outfits! I basically wore some red and white stripes around the house haha.

Primary

I was going for a retro-looking outfit with primary colors this time! I got this Crayola shirt from my sister, free free free! I'm not huge on Tshirts, but I'm kinda glad I kept this one. It actually says "banana split" on the side. And whatever "banana split" is in Spanish! Authentic!
I really only wore this around the house, though. These socks were way too big, and here is proof for you that I don't know how to tie a frickin head scarf! Either I'm doing something wrong or my head is just weirdly shaped. I wouldn't doubt that, really.
So how about we talk about this heat! I know it's hot everywhere, but in South Carolina, it's been breaking 100 daily. Seriously, this was the only time I even walked out. I was like snap snap, pose pose, run inside. Or crawl.
 shirt-free gift woo!

Postsecret

I've been wanting to add some variety to this blog. So today I thought I'd share one of my favorite things with you!
I know this isn't news or anything, but if you haven't heard of postsecret, it's a project started by Frank Warren, where you send in your anonymous secret. He posts them ever sunday on postsecret.com, and he's made books filled with 'em. I always save my favorites to my hard drive. Here are a few of them.
There's this girl I kindof know. And she really bugs me. She's smart, beautiful, funny, talented at everything, and to top it off, she's really nice. So I can't hate her!
Recently, she shared a postsecret with someone over facebook, and it was one of the ones I saved to my computer! At first I was annoyed to have anything in common with her. But then I thought, I have a lot in common with her. I'm smart and talented! Though probably not as saintly, we're really not all that different. And that, I think, is the beauty of postsecret. Not only is it interesting, it unifies us. We realize the things we share with anonymous people from all over the world who have the same secrets we do, or the similar tastes we have with people who we think we don't like.

Messy Hair

 Hey! Here is my butt.
You guys, I need a camera so bad. I hate waiting to see my boyfriend who lives 2 hours away, just to get to a camera. It does give me an excuse to go see him, though! Not that I need another.
My hair looks a mess here. I'm trying to weasel my way into a free cut, but I don't even know what I'd want!
 I'm really self centered.
And I don't mean that in a bad way or in a good way, just in a true way.
